We have a clear Mission that is “to substantially improve the standards, choice and management of rental accommodation in the inner areas of Blackpool, helping make its neighbourhoods thriving and desirable places to live.”

Improving homes and neighbourhoods

Formed in the Autumn of 2015, Blackpool Housing Company set itself the ambitious task of making a critical intervention in the private rented housing market across the inner areas of the town. Our ambition being to help improve the quality and management standards of the homes we own and to support our tenants to sustain their tenancies and thrive in their homes.  We have grown from zero to over 700 homes in management in this period, continue to invest significantly in property standards and energy efficiency and have supported consistently high tenant sustainability. With the foundations for continued growth now having been laid, an anticipated growth of circa 50 homes per annum for the next five years will propel us towards meeting our next goal of 1,000 homes.

Our progress is marked by purchasing poor quality homes and redundant or derelict buildings and by making significant investment in remodelling and renovating them into desirable yet affordable homes for rent.

We offer a wider choice of homes that set new standards backed by our own dedicated property letting and management team. We have a strong vision to be the ‘Landlord of Choice’, all under the “My Blackpool Home” brand.

Our focus is to provide desirable places to live in attractive neighbourhoods where our customers can enjoy a good quality of life.

In short, we buy property, we improve it and we rent it.

We have significant development expertise and a good working knowledge of the local housing market in Blackpool. We are building a viable rental portfolio, with the necessary scale and focus, to make a positive impact on inner Blackpool. Creative design and construction expertise enable us to improve poor quality hotel, holiday flat and HMO stock to meet modern space standards and improve energy efficiency thereby saving our tenants money.

Lumen Housing Limited

Lumen Housing, a subsidiary association of Blackpool Housing Company, was established in Blackpool in 2020 and formed as a not for profit Community Benefit Society with exempt charitable status.
