Formerly trading as a 23 bedroom hotel, the previous owners had commenced an improvement programme but work had stalled and Blackpool Housing Company was able to purchase the “Regal Hotel” at auction.
Originally, the property was a presbytery, adjacent to a church that has since been demolished. Planning permission was then granted for a hotel, operating with 17 bedrooms with owner’s accommodation and facilities.
These properties were a pair of semi detached former hotels that had been converted into holiday bedsits before being purchased by BHC.
The property was originally a hotel/holiday flats which ceased to trade and had been vacant for a number of years. A local developer presented Blackpool Housing Company with a turnkey opportunity to re-develop the properties to three x 2 bedroom apartments prior to purchase in June 2018.
The conversion completed in September 2018 provided a two storey, three-bedroom maisonette and a one bedroom second floor flat for rental. Both flats have grade “A” energy efficient gas central heating systems, modern facilities and sound insulation to comply with building regulations.
The properties were originally a row of 5 guest houses owned by a consortium of family members, who were descendants of the property builders. Over the years the external appearance of the properties has deteriorated as the properties fell out of use, and Blackpool Council’s housing enforcement department have had cause for concern.

This building, a former hotel was in a dilapidated state of repair to the upper floor and encapsulates retail units to the ground floor.
A locally based contractor completed the work at Queen Street. The property was transformed into six self-contained, 2 bedroom apartments and some minor refurbishment works were completed at the 3 retail units.
